Adjustable Suspenders
If you are like many seasoned firefighters and dislike buckles on your suspenders we offer our “Adjustable Suspenders”. Our adjustable suspenders are made to your exact length and specifications to avoid the bulkiness of the buckles and the nuisance of the flapping tongues, BUT yet are still adjustable. Black Smoke Leather “Adjustable” Suspenders are made with strong yet supple leather that is stitched for strength that will accompany you through many years if not your entire firefighter career. All of our suspenders are made from high tensile strength 10/12 oz thick saddle grade leather, well above industry standard, and our quality metal hardware will meet and rival any hardware that is currently used through out the industry. Sewn from end to end including all added options to help prevent stretching and to add strength. (no short cuts)
All hand set copper rivets for strength. Chicago Screws for adjustability (shipped with Loctite) and Rivets are set flush in the back so not to snag on your gear or uniform.
No need to use a leather backer or liner! (Our leather does not bleed dye onto your gear or uniform. Some have to use calf skin or pig skin)
H Back or Ring Back Design. Place the "H" or Ring in the location YOU need it.

- Ring Back Style - Put your drops on and adjust your current suspenders where you want your drops to sit at all times and take a piece of webbing, string or rope over your shoulder, bring one end to the front mounting point of your turnouts (buttons for Lion, Snaps for Globe) and the other end to the back mounting location on the “OPPOSITE" side of your drops. When doing this stand up straight for best measurements results. Take a tape measure record the length in inches. (THIS GOES IN THE 1ST MEASUREMENT BOX)
- H Back Style - Put your drops on and adjust your current suspenders where you want your drops to sit at all times and take a piece of webbing, string or rope over your shoulder, bring one end to the front mounting point of your turnouts (buttons for Lion, Snaps for Globe) and the other end to the back mounting location on the “ SAME" side of your drops. When doing this stand up straight for best measurements results. Take a tape measure record the length in inches. (THIS GOES IN THE 1ST MEASUREMENT BOX)
- Start on the back mounting point of your Turnout Bottoms and measure up to where you would like the “H” or the “RING” to sit on you back. (best is between your shoulder blades) THIS GOES IN THE 2ND MEASUREMENT BOX

Black Smoke Tested
When most Firefighters purchase Suspenders they adjust them to where they like to wear them at and never adjust them again. We have seen our guys use Duct Tape, Zip Ties and many other creative things to keep the buckles from coming apart. So the Black Smoke Crew got rid of buckles all together. The Black Smoke Crew was also tired of having to find creative ways to secure our radio straps when just wearing our drops. Every time we would bend over our radio strap would fling forward, so the Black Smoke Crew came up with a built in Anti-sway mount for the Firefighters who use a radio strap on calls. We recommend following the sizing directions and get rid of Suspender Buckles!
